The son of James Lyle Gillis and Jane (Grube) Hall, and the grandson of state Senator James Knox Polk Hall, Elk County; born November 2, 1929, St. Mary’s, Elk County; attended public schools; Phillips Academy, Andover Massachusetts; and graduated from Yale University. Enlisted in the U.S.M.C., Korean War Campaign, Lt., First Marine Division, F.M.F., 1951-1952; manufacturing career, serving as treasurer of the Stackpole Carbon Co.; director, St.. Mary’s National Bank; Board of Trustees Lock Haven State College; Erie and Elk County Hospital trustee; member Ridgway Chamber of Commerce; director, American Cancer Society, Elk County; vice president of the James Knox Polk Hall Corporation; St. Mary’s Sewer Pipe Co.; St. Mary’s Clay Products Co.; Canadian Stackpole Ltd.; Ridgway Publishing Co.; member of the American Legion and VFW, and numerous civic, professional, and fraternal organizations. He is a member of the Episcopal Church. He married Lisbeth Jordan. Hall presently lives in Ridgway, Elk County (2011).
