Doctor James Carothers, born 1797, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, son of Charles and Margaret McDade Carothers; first resident physician, Wilkinsburg, practiced until 1850; elected, Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1851-1853; director, Allegheny Theological Seminary; married, Matilda Graham Carothers; died April 14, 1867; Monroeville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interment, Beulah Cemetery, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
