Harvey George Bowers, born November 20, 1864, Winslow, Gaskill Township, Jefferson County, , son of Jacob Kitelinger and Ellen Rhoads Bower, children, Ioris Ray Bowers, Frank W. Bowers, Paul Cessna Bowers; public and private school education; engaged, lumber business, 1882; engaged banker, lumberman, coal operator; president, Weber Memorial Training School; treasurer, Jefferson County; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1929-1932; died December 15, 1947 (aged 83), Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; interment, Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.   

Early Career:

Operator, Bowers Brothers Coal Company (later, Bowersville Coal Company), Banks Coal Company, Pratt Coal Company, Arthur Coal Company, Straitwell Coal Company, Hamilton Coal Company, Pansy Coal Company, Punxsutawney Planing Mill on the present site of the Kurtz Coal, Lumber, and Supply Company.
