John Sheridan Weller, born November 1, 1867, Southampton Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania; son of Frederick Simon and Mary Ann Hammer Weller; soon thereafter his parents moved Hyndman, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; Bedford County Public Schools; Pennsylvania State College, civil engineer, 1889; United States National Geodetic Survey; reading for his law examinations, Russell and Longenecker, Beford, admitted, Bedford County bar, 1891; attorney; admitted, practice before, State Supreme, Federal Courts; district attorney, Bedford County, 1894-1897; chairman, Republican County Committee of Bedford County; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1899-1902; moved, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, partner, law firm: Weller, Wicks and Wallace; appointment, Pittsburgh Mayor William Magee, Pittsburgh Planning Commission; continued law practice, specializing later in corporate law; president, National Bank of South Pennsylvania, Hyndman; married Sara Barbara Mercer, no children; died, September 26, 1944 (aged 77), West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interment, Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
