Doctor Robert Lawrence McClellan born, October 20, 1822, West Brandywine Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; son of Samuel W. and Fanny Brassington Pearce McClellan; Philadelphia College of Dental Surgery; dentist; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 1861-1862; reelected, Union Republican, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 1863; not a candidate for reelection, 1864; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1875-1876; married, Hannah Matilda Downey (d. 1875) ; died, February 5, 1889 (aged 66), Cochranville, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Upper Octorara Church Cemetery, Parkesburg, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
