Charles Hodge Ealy, born January 25, 1884, Schellsburg, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; son of Doctor Taylor Filmore and Mary Ramsey Ealy; Bedford Academy; Bucknell University, BA, MA; University of Pittsburgh, LL.B.; married, Edna May Pritts Ealy, three daughters; admitted, Somerset County bar, 1908; attorney; Somerset law partnership practice; solicitor, Somerset County, during World War I; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1927-1946, president pro tempore, 1941-1945; delegate, Republican National Convention, 1940; died, November 8, 1947 (aged 63), Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania; interment, Husband Cemetery, Somerset, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Delegate, Republican National Convention, 1940.

Legacy: 

President pro tempore, four-year term, longest continuous since William Marks, 1821-1825.
