Jones Detwiler, born November 11, 1828, Upper Dublin Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; son of Eliza Jones Schlater; common school education; farmer; wheelwright; school director, Whitpain, Montgomery County, nine years; Montgomery County auditor, 1859-1865; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1877-1878; married, Hannah Holland, then, Sarah Ann Dull, children, Annie Detwiler, J. E. Detwiler, Cora Detwiler Shearer; died, December 15, 1900 (aged 72), from pneumonia and old injuries sustained after a train hit his wagon at a railroad crossing; Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; interment, Boehm Cemetery, Blue Bell, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
