Early Life: 

Walter Craig born on December 1, 1786, Ulster, Ireland; son of Walter and Jane McCleon Craig; settled in Hopewell Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania; surveyor; veteran, War of 1812; elected, Pennsylvania House of Representatives 1818-1819; member, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention, 1837-1838; elected, Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate 1843-1845; married, Elizabeth Fordyce Craig, children, Jane, Elizabeth, David, John, Henry, Walter and three others died in infancy; died, February 10, 1875, at the house of his daughter, State of Indiana, whither he had gone on a visit; interment Cross Creek Cemetery, Cross Creek, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
