Early Life:

Doctor Leon Cushing Prince, born May 15, 1875, Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire; son of Morris Watson and Katherine Buck Farnham Prince; Bordentown Military Academy; New York University, B.A., 1898; father, became a professor, Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, 1898-1910; member, Phi Beta Kappa honorary society, officer, Belles Lettres Literary Society, Dickinson College, M.A., Dickinson School of Law, LL.B., 1900; Albright College, honorary doctorate of literature, 1917; Cumberland County Bar Association, 1900; ordained clergyman, New York Conference, Methodist Episcopal Church, 1900; librarian, instructor, Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania; adjunct professor of history and economics Dickinson College, 1903-1910; full professor of history and economics, 1910-1937; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1928-1936; married, Julia Cecilia Delavan Laise, 1910, daughter, Mary Delavan Prince Caum; died, January 31, 1937 (aged 61), at his desk in the study of his home, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interment, Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

Elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 31st district, Cumberland, Juniata, Mifflin and Perry Counties, 1929-1936.

Legacy:

During his time at military school, Prince was struck with muscular dystrophy which would confine him to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Pennsylvania governor John J. Earle attended the funeral, Dickinson College President Fred Corson presented the eulogy, College closed for the day and six students served as pallbearers.
