Wade and Carrie Manella Rhodabarger Wade; regimental sergeant major, United States Army, World War I, 1918-1919; farmer; coal miner; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1931-1934; elected, council, Camp Hill Borough; elected, Camp Hill School Board; Eastern Manager, Ohio National Life Insurance Company; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1941-1974; married, Anna Ruth Wade, son, Doctor George N Wade, Jr, daughter Carrie Wade; died, January 9, 1974, while in office of the Senate, Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Cumberland County; interment, Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

Legacy:

Known as the Father of Free Bridge Legislation. Title was passed to him once Pennsylvania State Senator Clarence Jay Buckman, 10th district, Bucks County 1911-1938, left office. 

August 16, 1973, Interstate 81 Bridge over Susquehanna River, north of Harrisburg was dedicated, George N. Wade Bridge.
