Reverend James Harris, born February 26,  1755, Mifflintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania; son of John and Jean Harris; relocated with family in Juniata County; educated at home; Revolutionary War veteran; became Deputy Surveyor, Cumberland County, 1785; married, Ann Nancy Dunlop Harris, 1790, children, Jane Harris Linn, Eliza Harris Dobbins, James D. Harris, William Harris; Chief Surveyor, Mifflin County, 1789; Bellefonte first Postmaster; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1800-1805; elected, Quid, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1805-1808; died, December 2, 1826 (aged 71), Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania; interment, Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
