Thomas Buckman Harper, Sr., born September 9, 1859, Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; son of Charles and Mary Buckman Harper; Abington Friends’ School; Friends’ Central School, Philadelphia; elected, council of Jenkinstown borough, 1873; elected burgess, four terms; married, Margaret M. Carrell, 1879, children, Carroll W. Harper, William Carrell Harper, Mabel Harper, Mary Elizabeth Harper, Grace Harper, Aimee Grace Stewart, Thomas Buckman Harper, Jr.; occupation, contractor, builder of water works; organized, president, treasurer, Tioga Steel Forge Company, Philadelphia, 1898-1909; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1909-1910; died, May 18, 1910 (aged 50), in office of the Senate, Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania; interment, Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
