Born February 27, 1907, the son of Fred P. and Ellen Machin Hare of Meyersdale, Somerset County. Fred Jr. was educated at Meyersdale High School; Susquehanna University; Ashland College (where he starred in football); the University of Pittsburgh, earning B.A. degree; and pursued a career in sales. He served 1940-1945 in the state House of Representatives and two terms in the state Senate 1947-1953, resigning his seat in 1953. Fred married Mary Alice George. He died at Ocean City, NJ, December 1980.
