Thomas Benton Schnatterly, born July 13, 1841, Nicholson Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; son of John and Malinda Kendall Schnatterly; George’s Creek Academy; Mason Institute; Waynesburg College; teacher; studied law under Pennsylvania State Senator Thomas Searight, joined Fayette County bar, 1864; attorney, 1864-1899; elected, District Attorney, Fayette County, 1865-1868; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1870-1871; contractor, Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad, 1871-1872; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1877-1878; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1879-1882; contractor, Southwest Pennsylvania Railroad, 1882-1889; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1885-1886; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1887-1890; editor, publisher, Uniontown Jeffersonian Democrat, 1889-1891; married, Mary Morrison; died, March 31, 1899 (aged 57), as an invalid for the final ten years of his life, Homeopathic Hospital, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, South Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
