Verus Hope Metzger born March 25, 1859, Clinton Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, son of the Honorable Johann Jacob and Endetta Metzger; public School education; Dickinson Seminary; Gettysburg College, 1878; studied law with his father, admitted, Lycoming, bar, 1881; elected, Democrat, Lycoming County district attorney, 1883-1886; married, Lulu Condradi, 1884, two children; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1887-1890; died, May 28, 1891 (aged 32), home, diabetes, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interment, Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
