Born November 4, 1774, Northampton County, the son of Philip and Katherine Wetzel Mechling. He married Catherine Coder, 1795, Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County. Died August 19, 1847, interred at Old Union Graveyard, Greensburg. (Wanda Mechling Gant, Mechling Family Folder, pa-roots.com) Senator Mechling, a stone mason, also served as Collector of U.S. Taxes, 1816-1817; as a delegate to Canal Convention of 1828; was Sheriff of Armstrong County, clerk of the Orphans Court, and a member, Armstrong County Bible Society . He married Catherine Coder.
