Born January 8, 1828, the son of William and Margaret McClellan McLain. Married Susannah Ralston, Nov. 27, 1849; first Republican Jury Commissioner of Fayette County; Chair of the Republican County Committee; member of the House of Representatives, 1876-1878. Of Claysville, Washington County, drygoods and grocery business.
