Michael E. McDonald, born September 26, 1858, Hawley, Wayne County, (now Lackawanna County) Pennsylvania; son of Thomas and Bridget (Hughes) McDonald; moved, Dunmore, Lackawanna County, 1863; common school education; Wyoming Seminary; studied law, admitted bar, 1883; attorney-at-law, 1883-1921; elected, auditor, Dunmore; elected, borough solicitor, Dunmore, six years; auditor, Scranton Poor district, 1883-1885; elected, school director, Dunmore, 1884-1886; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 1884; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania House of Representatives,1886-1889; not a candidate for reelection, 1890; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1891-1894; unsuccessful campaign for reelection, 1894; editor, Lackawanna Jurist; died, November 30, 1921 (aged 63) Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interment, Cathedral Cemetery Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
