George McCulloch (D17) Cambria, Huntingdon and Mifflin Counties, 1832-1836.

Early Life:

George McCulloch, born February 22, 1792, Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky; moved to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; engaged, ironmaster, with extensive iron interests in Centre County, Pennsylvania. Member, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1835-1836; proprietors, Hannah Furnace, 1836-1850; elected, Democrat, United States House of Representatives, Twenty-sixth Congress, 1839-1841, unsuccessful candidate for election, 1842; retired from political life; active business pursuits with residence, Lewistown, Pennsylvania; married, Esther J. Turbett McCulloch, daughter, Eleanor Acheson “Ellen” McCulloch McGill; died, April 6, 1861 (age 69 years, 43 days), Port Royal, Juniata County, Pennsylvania; interment, Od Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, Juniata County, Pennsylvania. 

Early Career: 

Upon the death of his parents, moved to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, where he was reared by relatives.

Engaged, Iron interests, Centre County. 

Pennsylvania Politics:

Member, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 17th district, Cambria, Huntingdon and Mifflin Counties, 1832-1836.

Elected, Democrat, United States House of Representatives, Twenty-sixth Congress, vacancy, William W. Potter, 1839–1841; unsuccessful candidate for election, 1842.
