Robert McClure, born February 6, 1772, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; son of Robert and Margaret Dowglass McClure; rudimentary early education; graduated, Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania; Lawyer; owner, log and stone processing facilities, unnamed distillery, landing dock located, Williamsport; married, Mary Hepburn; children, William McClure, Hepburn McClure, Louisa Jane McClure Lowe, and Edwin C. McClure; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 1822-1827; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1827-1828; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1828-1829; died, December 13, 1829 (age 57), in office of Senate, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; internment, originally in Williamsport’s “old burial ground” on West Fourth Street, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, reinterment location unknown.
