Blood, born February 16, 1824, Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland; son of Cyrus and Jane McNulty Blood; family moved, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, 1830; received no formal education, tutored by his father; Deputy Sheriff, Jefferson County, 1846; unsuccessful campaign, Jefferson County Sheriff, 1848; studied medicine under Doctor James Dowling; practiced with Doctor C.P. Cummins; opened a pharmacy with Doctor Cummins, who sold his interest, remained sole proprietor until 1874; engaged, lumber business; Brookville postmaster, 1853-1856; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1859-1861; delegate, Democratic National Convention, 1860; commissioner, Jefferson County, 1881-1884; married, Rebecca Corbett Armstrong, children, Cyrus H. Blood, James Corbett Blood, Walter Lynn Blood; died, December 10, 1895 (aged 71), Rose Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania; interment, Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
