SENATE RESOLUTION 

CONGRATULATING FORMER SENATOR ALBERT E. MADIGAN UPON HIS SERVICE TO PENNSYLVANIA AGRICULTURE AWARD

Mr. VAN SANT offered the following resolution which was read, considered and adopted:

In the Senate, January 16, 1967. Today one of the most distinguished former members of this body is being honored by the New Holland Division of the Sperry Rand Corporation for his years of service to Pennsylvania agriculture.

At a special breakfast which was held here in Harrisburg Albert E. Madigan, the gentleman from Bradford County was presented with the award and an engraved electric watch. Senator Madigan is the ninth recipient of the award which is made annually to a State resident who has contributed significantly to the growth of agriculture in Pennsylvania.

Madigan is a native of Bradford County which was part of his district while a member of the State Senate, and he owns and operates a 300 acre dairy farm near Towanda.

During his term in the State Legislature, Senator Madigan served as chairman of the Agriculture Committees of both Houses. He served as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee for six years and as chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee for ten years.

Madigan's entire career in public life has been devoted to Pennsylvania agriculture. He is past master of Bradford County Pomona Grange, and he served on the executive and legislative committees of the Pennsylvania State Grange from 1938 to 1944.

He is past president of the Pennsylvania State Association of Artificial Breeding Cooperatives and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Artificial Breeding Cooperatives.

Madigan is also a member of the executive committee of the State Council of Farm Organizations, and he is agricultural member on the executive committee of the Board of Trustees of the Pennsylvania State University.

We here in the Senate are proud of Senator Madigan; therefore be it RESOLVED, That the Senate pause in its deliberations to congratulate Albert E. Madigan upon his being awarded this certificate of recognition; and be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Madigan.
