Lemon, born August 26, 1827, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; son of Samuel and Jane Moore Lemon; common school education; coal operating, railroad contractor, Allegheny Portage Railroad; burgess of Hollidaysburg, three years; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1873-1870; elected, Auditor General of the Commonwealth, 1880-1884; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1888-1895; married, Barbara Walker, children, Charles S., Olive, Samuel H., John A., Margaret J., Katharine M., Jean Moore Lemon; died, September 16, 1895 (aged 68), while in office of the Senate, at home, Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania; interment, Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
