Early Life:

James Wilson Lee, born July 17,1845, Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania; son of Silas and Jane Holmes Lee; Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, 1863; Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania; studied law, Myers and Kinnear, of Franklin, 1867; admitted to the practice of that profession, 1969; member, city council of Franklin, Pennsylvania, 1871-1872; law partnership with S. C. T. Dodd, 1872-1881; elected, mayor of Franklin, 1875-1876; law practice alone, 1881-1886; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1879-1886; married, Laura M. Kinnear, 1875 (d.1880), Clara V. Kauffman, 1883, daughter, Virginia Lee Galbraith; law practice alone, 1881-1886; partner, Lee, Smiley and Hastings, Bradford 1886-1887; reorganized, partner, Lee, Criswell and Hastings, offices, Franklin, Bradford, 1887; died, May 11, 1908 (aged 62), arteriosclerosis, diabetes, interstitial nephritis, and thrombosis of coronary arteries, at home, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interment, Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, Venango County, Pennsylvania .
