Colonel Thomas Pope Knox, born July 8, 1809, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia; son of Andrew and Rebecca Rice-Pray Knox; moved, Norristown, Pennsylvania, 1821; Norristown Academy; Rutgers College; married, Sarah Ann Leedom, five children; wife, children, all died, 1846; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1856-1858; Aide-de-camp, Governor William Bigler, appointed, Colonel, 1858-1861; president, State Agricultural Society; justice of the peace, Norriton Township; died, May 9, 1879 (aged 69) interment Montgomery Cemetery, West Norriton Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
