John Francis Higgins, born January 1 , 1870 Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; son of John F. and Margaret Franey Higgins; moved, parents, Shenandoah, 1876; educated, public school; Pierce's Business College; deputy receiver, taxes Shenandoah Borough, 1892; appointed, fill the unexpired term father death, receiver of taxes, 1893; engaged, shoe business; elected, school director, Fourth ward, Shenandoah Borough, 1896; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, November, 1898; manger, Majestic Theater, Pottsville; died, May 18, 1927, Warne Hospital, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interment, Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Church Cemetery, Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Politics:

Deputy receiver, taxes, Shenandoah Borough under his father and upon the latter's death in 1893 was appointed to fill the unexpired term as receiver of taxes. Manger, Majestic Theater, Pottsville, brother, George Higgins owned.
