George Emlen, born 1784, son of George and Sarah Fishburne Emlen; received a fine education; studied law, admitted, Philadelphia County bar, 1808; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1818-1822; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1823-1827; elected, Federalist, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1827-1830; died, August 27, 1850 (aged 65–66), Pennsylvania; interment, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
