Early Life:

Doctor Ezra Doty, born July 7, 1767, Sharon, Litchfield County, Colony of Connecticut, British Colonial America; son of Doctor Daniel and Hannah Doty; studied medicine with his father; married Damaris Hamlin Doty, remarried, Rebecca North Doty, 1811, children, John Doty, Ezra Doty, William Henry Doty, Anne Eliza Parker, James Cloyd Doty, Edmund Southard Doty; unsuccessful campaign, United States House of Representatives, Pennsylvania District 4, 1806; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1808-1812, unsuccessful reelection, 1812; elected, Democratic Republican, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1816-1817; two unsuccessful campaigns, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1817; died, February 10, 1828 (aged 60), Mifflintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania; interment, Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania.

Early Career: 

Journeyed westward on horseback, and while passing up the Juniata River, and stopping over night at Mifflintown, newly laid out, the people, learning he was a physician, called him to attend a sick person in the vicinity. He was invited to remain at the place and decided so to do. He boarded soon after at the tavern (then the Yellow House) for several years.
