Francis Dolan Collins, born March 5, 1841, Saugerties, Ulster County, New York; son of Thomas and Catherine Collins; Saint Joseph’s College, Montrose, Susquehanna County; moved with his parents to Dinsmore, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, Pennsylvania; studied law; admitted,  bar, 1866; private law practice, Scranton; elected, Democrat, district attorney, mayors court, 1869; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate 1872-1874; elected, Democrat, United States House of Representatives, Congress, 1875-1879; resumed law practice; died, November 21, 1891 (aged 50), Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interment Cathedral Cemetery, Hyde Park, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
