Anthony Francis Bannon, Sr. (R25) McKean, Potter and Tioga Counties 1893-1896 

Early Life:

Anthony Francis Bannon, Sr., born October 13, 1847, Blossburg, Tioga County, Pennsylvania; son of Patrick Johanna Lonergan Bannon; when a lad of twelve he entered the mines where he worked for ten years, attending night school after working hours; married, Mary J. Carlyle, 1870, children, Anthony F. Jr., William P., Mary, Edward; engaged, grocery business, 1872; entered the employ of the Erie Railroad Company, Kendall Creek, 1877; a year later he engaged in the coal business, when, securing possession of some valuable oil property, sold out his coal interests in order to pay attention to his producing interests; elected coroner, McKean County, 1881-1884; chairman, Republican, McKean County Committee, 1883; elected, sheriff, McKean County, 1885-1889; elected, reading clerk, Pennsylvania State Senate, session of 1889-1890, elected, journal clerk, Pennsylvania State Senate, session of 1891-1892; elected, Republican, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1892; died, March 19, 1924 Blossburg, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Burial location unknown.
