Biography

1857 - 1906

Born at “Gibson Hill,” Edinboro, Erie County, August 25, 1857, Perry Gibson was the son of Daniel Crispin and Maria (Conant) Gibson; he attended public schools; Edinboro Normal School; and graduated from Iowa State University with honors in 1883.  Gibson pursued business with his brother, eventually reading law in the office of John Proudfit of Edinboro, and was admitted to the bar in 1886.  In what turned out to be his crowning political achievement, Perry was elected for a single term in the state Senate in 1896.  He died in Edinboro at 49 years, February 1906.
