Harvey Wheeler Haines, born October 11, 1838, Middletown, Columbiana County, Ohio; son of Charles H. and Barbara Funk Haines; moved to Windsor, York County, Pennsylvania, 1840; public school education; Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); teacher, Lancaster, York Counties, Pennsylvania, Baltimore City, Maryland, 1855-1880; returned to York County, pursued farming, 1880; delegate, State Democratic Conventions, Allentown 1884, Allentown, 1888, Scranton, 1890; elected, auditor, Windsor Township (one term); elected, school director; Windsor Township; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State House of Representatives, 1889-1892, not a candidate for reelection, 1892; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1895-1902; married, Mary Esther Leber, 1871, daughter, Florence L Haines; died, December 6, 1925, Windsor Township, York County, Pennsylvania; interment, Freysville Cemetery, Freysville, York County, Pennsylvania.
