Malachi C. Watson, born March 21, 1845, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; son of Michael and Bridget Higgins Delaney Watson; public school education; engaged, mining, up until 1869; boatman transportation; engaged, wholesale liquor agent, Schuylkill County; proprietor, livery saddlery, harness establishment, Schuylkill County; married, Nancy Monaghan, 1867, married second, Anne Costello, 1869; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1887-1890; died, April 3, 1903 (aged 58), Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interment, Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Church Cemetery, Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.  

Early Career:

Boatman; transporting government supplies by boat from Philadelphia to Washington and Alexandria, Civil War; with Uncle Michael Higgins.
