Judge Samuel Wherry, born July 22, 1804; Southampton Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; son of John and Margaret Mitchell Wherry; christened, Middle Springs Presbyterian Church; farmer;  married, Margaret McCune Wherry, 1832, children, Eleanor Sharp Wherry Hays, Margaret Jane Wherry, Samuel McCune Wherry, William Elder Wherry; elected, Democrat, Pennsylvania State Senate, 1854-1856; died, April 2, 1861 (aged 56), Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania; interment, Upper Middle Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
